PADANG UPDATE: All our staff at the Padang field station are reported alive and well following the recent devastating earthquakes to hit the region.

EARTHQUAKE OFF SUMATRAN COAST: We have not yet been able to account for all our staff at the Padang field station following the recent 7.6 Richter-scale earthquake that struck off the west coast of Sumatra, about 45km from Padang, yesterday evening [external link]. Telecommunications have been badly affected and it may take some time before we can make contact with everyone. An update will be posted here in due course.

EARTHQUAKE IN SUMATRA: Everybody from our Padang branch field station is reported as safe following the recent 8.4 Richter-scale earthquake plus aftershocks that have struck off the west coast of Sumatra [external link].

EARTHQUAKE IN SUMATRA: Everybody is safe and well at our Padang branch field station following the 6.3 Richter-scale earthquake that hit the area this morning [external link]. They've all gone home for the day, because there's no electricity, and as a precautionary measure (our offices are about 100 meters from the sea and almost at sea level.)
