Participants must make their own arrangements for accommodation in Padang.
Participants are encouraged to stay at the conference venue, the Kyriad Hotel Bumiminang, which offers four-star international-standard accommodation, with a special rate for SEALS participants: Rps 399,000 per night (without breakfast), Rps 550,000 per night with breakfast. A block of 50 rooms at these rates has been reserved for SEALS participants.
If you wish to stay elsewhere, there is a glut of accommodation options within easy (mostly under 5 minutes) walking distance, ranging from the super-luxurious to the shoestring. Rates listed below are those advertised in early 2017. In general, most available rooms are at the lower end of the advertised price range, and it is often possible to obtain a substantial discount on the advertised rates. However, unless you're on a shoestring budget, the Kyriad Hotel Bumiminang is probably the best option available.
Note that like most places in Indonesia, hotels in Padang are not very good at communicating with potential customers by phone, fax or email, and "reservations" are often little more than fictitious. In actual fact, however, there is a large surplus of hotel rooms in Padang at all times, and the easiest way to get a room is simply to show up at the front desk of the hotel of your choice: in the unlikely event that yur first choice is unavailable, you're certain to find something just as good down the road.
